Friends of Heathlands Park have organised a fungi-find event starting in Heathlands Park on 30th October 2012 10am (the Tuesday of the half term holiday if you have school children). The event will be led by local expert Michael Senkans. There are many types of fungus both in Heathlands Park, down the hill in the woodland (to the east) and towards the Holbrook Marshes in this, one of the most bio-diverse areas of Sheffield. Find out what you can and cannot eat – or just come along for the walk, which we anticipate will take roughly a couple of hours. Please make sure you wear some waterproof boots/shoes though, as it can get muddy once we are out of the park! Again, this is a free event arranged by the Friends of Heathlands Park and provided by Sheffield City Council in conjunction with the Sheffield Landscape Trust.
Meet at Heathlands Park at the black railings at the end of Oxclose Park Way, S20 8GS.
